Fees

Consultation Fees

A standard 50-minute session is currently set at $220.

As AOD Psychology is a private practice, there is a fee for service (meaning I am not able to bulk bill clients) however my fees are set at significantly less than the Australian Psychological Society’s National Schedule of Recommended Fees.

Medicare

You may be eligible for a Medicare rebate of $96.65 per session for up to 10 psychology sessions per calendar year.

To access this rebate, you will need to ask your GP or psychiatrist for a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) and referral to see me.

Your GP or psychiatrist will generally refer you for up to 6 sessions, then if you need more, I will send your GP or psychiatrist a review letter to enable another 4 sessions.

Private Health Cover

If you have private health insurance you may be eligible for a rebate from your insurance provider.  Rebates vary depending on level of cover and provider and you’ll need to check your personal cover with your provider first if you intend to make a claim.  Unfortunately, you are unable to claim both the Medicare rebate and private health rebate.

Cancellation Policy

Appointments missed or cancelled without 24 hours-notice incur a full appointment fee ($220).

Appointments missed or cancelled without 48 hours-notice incur half of the appointment fee ($110).

Please provide at least 2 business days-notice (Monday to Friday).  For example, to cancel an appointment scheduled for the following:

  • Friday at 10am, please notify before 10am on Wednesday prior
  • Monday at 2pm, please notify before 2pm on Thursday prior

Providing at least 2 business days to cancel an appointment helps to keep your session costs down, minimises lost clinical time, and maximises my availability to clients.

Your scheduled appointment time is held for you, and late cancellations or no-shows (missed appointments) make it difficult to fill appointments at the last minute and prevent other clients from accessing mental health support.

It is appreciated that sometimes there are genuine emergencies, which will be taken into consideration if you communicate with me as soon as possible.

It is important to note that late cancellation or missed appointment fees do not attract a rebate through Medicare or private health insurance and are not paid by Third Party funders.  These are your responsibility even if your treatment is normally funded by a Third Party.

Several reminder messages and emails are sent in the days leading up to your appointment.  If for any reason you did not receive a reminder message and missed your appointment, you will still need to pay the late missed appointment fee.
